About Us

The Ethos of the school is to provide a broad based training in multi discipline genres of dance, that is accessible to all, in a fun, caring and structured environment. Our main goal as teachers is to help each individual student reach their fullest potential. We strive to create a family atmosphere of education and learning without pressure, where all are welcome and accepted, whatever their ability.

Various disciplines are taught within the school including Tap, Ballet, Modern, Stage and Contemporary. These classes are mixed to ensure each child has a varied dance education. Street Dance is included in these mixed classes at Epping/Coopersale, and is offered as a separate class at Highams Park. We have recently started a new Gymnastics dance class at Highams Park which can be taken as an add on.

The school as a whole is a huge family, welcoming everyone who enjoys and loves to dance!

Student Age & Ability

At HSOD we accept students for mixed class from age 3 and age 5 for separate Street dance classes. Although age does contribute to each child’s progress, it will not solely determine on how they proceed within the school. As discussed above, each child will be treated as an individual, and therefore to reach their fullest potential all students will differ in pace and progression.

Payment for Classes

Mixed classes should be paid in half term periods of 6-8 weeks, fee’s will therefore depend on the length of the term. These class can be paid for via cash in a labelled envelope or via BACS with the correct payment ref. Please note that all payments via BACS should be done in separate transactions. Street dance classes are paid weekly via cash. Half termly payments can be made via BACS, please email accounts@highamsschoolofdancing.com to arrange this.

For the academic year you will be asked to pay an annual costume fee. This will be due within the first term (Sept – Dec) and will cover each student for the whole academic year. This one off fee is to cover the hire of all costumes provided by us for all the exam and show dances.
